Fund Development Director
The Nevada Rural Housing Authority, located in Carson City, Nevada, has an immediate opening for a Fund Development Director. NRHA presently administers various federal rental subsidy programs, Self Help construction, weatherization, first-time homebuyer, public/grant funded, low-income and elderly housing programs. NRHA is a statewide authority that is expanding its scope of operations and services. NRHA’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in rural communities by providing the resources for greater independence through affordable housing and related programs.
The individual selected will be responsible for managing all aspects of fundraising of the organization, including establishing new fundraising strategies and mechanisms and providing community outreach activities to stimulate interest in programs.
Education and experience required is a Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing communications or related field and five plus years of fund development experience, both strategic and tactical. Candidate should demonstrate a proven track record of developing proposals, preferably to foundation, not-for-profit, charitable or governmental agencies. Nevada-based contacts are preferred. Knowledge of fundraising management, superior organizational and communication skills, including the ability to write and speak persuasively are integral to this position.

Nevada Humanities Accepting Nominations and Applications for Board Membership
Nevada Humanities is seeking five new members to serve three-year terms on the Nevada Humanities board of trustees. Applications are due by July 31, 2008, for terms beginning November 1, 2008. Full-time Tobacco Education Coordinator Position/American Lung Association of Nevada
Implement tobacco education and prevention programs to schools and community organizations and track program effectiveness through record keeping and data collection. Conduct trainings and program evaluations, compose correspondence and promote programs to ensure maximum effectiveness and participation through phone and personal contacts. Duties include recruiting, organizing, and motivating volunteers for program activities and working with high school, middle school, and elementary school students. Training and experience needed: graduation from an accredited college or university with experience in public health and/or health education. Non-smoker. Reliable transportation. Excellent and efficient ability to communicate well both orally and in writing, ability to work within an established budget, high level of positive self-motivation and enthusiasm, willing to learn and travel. The candidate must have a bachelor degree in a related field, possess excellent writing and public speaking skills, have knowledge of community organization techniques, and be able to bring people together in various collaborative efforts. Administrative Assistant Position Available
The Community Foundation of Western Nevada, a 501(c)(3) public charity, seeks An Administrative Assistant. The Foundation is ten years old and is growing rapidly. The successful candidate will have experience working in an office, have outstanding clerical and organizational skills, strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases, and present themselves well in person and over the phone. The Administrative Assistant will perform a variety of clerical duties requiring independent analysis, judgment, and knowledge of organization functions. Additional responsibilities include maintaining records, processing complex documents, compiling regular and special reports, take minutes for most board/committee meetings, and serve as assistant to the CEO.
The position will be full-time at 40 hours per week, with a work schedule beginning at 8:00 A.M. and ending at 5:00 P.M, Monday through Friday. Compensation will begin at $26,000 to $31,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
