2008 Access to Care Symposium

Senator Richard Bryan, former US Senator and Governor of Nevada, will deliver the keynote address at the 2008 Access to Care Symposium. The Symposium dialogues will focus on how to preserve the safety-net health care system in Nevada amid our state’s economic crisis. Registration Deadline - July 20th. A gathering to Promote Positive Alternatives for Latino Youth Through Community Involvement

The 2nd Annual Latino Youth Symposium on Monday, July 14th at El Dorado Hotel & Casino
Convention Center. This year the keynote speaker, Otilio Quintero, Assistant Director of Santa Cruz Barrios Unidos, will help attendees develop strategies to work with at risk youth. We'll have two morning and afternoon sessions dedicated to finding positive alternatives to engage our youth and strengthen our community relations. Statewide Suicide Prevention Conference – Empowering Communities to Action

It will be in Minden, NV on August 14-16 with several national speakers coming in to talk about lifespan issues around suicide and its prevention. Individual registration fee is $125. Registration closes August 8, 5:00pm. Fee includes session materials, certificate of attendance and/or Continuing Education Credit Certificate, continental breakfast and lunch on August 15. Lifelong Learning Summer Courses for Seniors

The University of Nevada, Reno’s learning-in-retirement organization, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), brings diverse learning opportunities to active adult learners dedicated to the growth and leadership of an organization directed by and for its members. Sponsored by Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, OLLI invites members and the community to sample Summer 2008 courses being held through August. OLLI members and one-time guests are welcome to attend most classes. Select classes are open to OLLI members only. Unless otherwise noted, classes are held in downtown Reno at the University’s off-campus OLLI facility in the Warren Nelson Building, 401 W. Second St. Course enrollment is limited and early enrollment is encouraged for courses requiring pre-registration. Summer membership is $25 for classes held April 1-Aug. 31. Annual membership is $45 for classes held Sept. 1-Aug. 31.
